  • As you can see from the cut-out template, a pretty large hole needs to be made for the Aerocatch hood latches. Which is great, because your pilot hole does not have to be exact. Once it's large enough for the stud to protrude you can place the template in place and mark what needs to be cut out. Measure twice - cut once!
  • Cut out marked with Aerocatch template.
  • This oscillating cut out tool is the best tool to use to cut the straight lines. The curves can be finished off with a dremel.
  • The Aerocatch hood latches come with a set of nuts that sandwich against the radiator support to locate the Aerocatch stud. Unfortunately the BMW E36 does not have much clearance on the top of the radiator support, so having a nut there will not let the hood close. Some fabrication will have to come into play to make things work. This plate will be welded under the radiator support and the tapped to the thread pitch of the stud.

  • Once the plate is welded and tapped the stud can be screwed directly into the radiator support. The securing nut can be placed on the underside of the radiator support avoiding all clearance issues.
  • With the stud in place and the main hole cut out we use the Password JDM plates to mark the small holes needed for the securing hardware.
  • Paper template being made to cut out Boom Mat pieces
  • Boom Mat is very easy to work with. Can be cut with regular scissors.
