Hoop, there it is.

  • Gusset layout has to be precise if you want a precise fitment.

  • Welding the taco gusset onto the main hoop. Good arc and heat control are critical when welding a thin material (gusset) to a much thicker material (tubing). Mistakes here stick out like a sore thumb, especially when painted.
  • Shakey hands need not apply here.
  • For those who know welding, the ideal torch angle is typically 20 degrees and the filler material does its job best when at 90 degrees to the tungsten. Pretty close here.
  • Holding a star. The torch heats the steel to right around 1500 degrees near instantly.
